Monday, March 22 Marsh & Buck Islands (Hi 1307 [5.63]; Lo 1935 [0.32])
Rendezvous: Skull Creek Marina 1200 for chart review and radio check
Skills: Chart reading (depths & ATONS between SCM & Brams Point). VHF Radio use ( All boats synchronize w/ leader on Ch ??); no wake zone recognition; proper crossing point between Brams point and Buck Island (do on either side of “G29A” to show difference in depth); ICW ATON markings; docking; proper cleat tie ups.
Route: Admiral Walter Kirk. Down Skull Creek & Calibogue Sound to Brams Point, then between “G29A” and “G31”, behind the two islands, proceeding at no wake speed on back side of the islands, emerging out into Calibogue Sound, passing “G1” on your starboard side. Proceed back up Calibogue Sound, passing once again between the two markers (“G29A” and “G31”) & down Broad Creek to the HH Yacht Club dock for tie up and a short walk down to The Black Marlin for a Dutch treat lunch and summary discussion of the cruise.

Tuesday, April 20 Pinckney Island ( Lo 11:15 [-0.34])
Rendezvous: All crews will meet at Skull Creek Marina at 1130 for chart review and radio check in preparation for launch at 1200. Admiral Galen Smith will lead a four boat flotilla in a circumnavigation of Pinckney Island, in either a clockwise or counterclockwise direction depending on prevailing winds, currents and tides. Captains and crews will pack a picnic lunch for an anchored raft up on the landward side of Pinckney Island at a spot to be determined by Admiral Smith. All boats are anticipated to be back to the dock not later than 1430

Route: Northeast (TBD) from SCM to “R4” at SC entrance to Port Royal Sound, the NW to Fl 4s “1”, then SC into inlet past “G5” on port side, following markers through. Pass Moss Creek YC route on starboard at “R2/G1”, under bridge, around bridge, back to SCM dock @ ~ 2:30. Click HERE for a map of the route

Tuesday, May 18 Bull Island (Hi 1156 [6.15])
Rendezvous: All crews will meet at Skull Creek Marina at 1030 for chart review and radio check. Push off: 1100.
Skills: Chart reading (depths & ATONS); ICW ATONs; Transition to non-ICW ATONs; no wake zone speeds; VHF usage (16à?? Transition); run aground/break free drill; and anchoring off the Cooper River; docking.
Route: Down SC & CS to “R2” at the mouth of the May River, then up the May River, keeping “G5” far to port until the cut appears on the port side, then following the cut through to the Cooper River at “R34”. Have Dutch treat lunch on Daufuskie.

Wednesday, July 14 Daufuskie Island (Lo 0437; Hi 1040; Lo 1655)
Rendezvous: 0830 at Skull Creek Marina for chart review and radio check. Push off: 0900.
Skills: Chart reading (depths & ATONS); ICW ATONs; no wake zone speeds; VHF usage (16à?? Transition); spinning in place; “the long way is the short way”; piloting w/ GPS; docking.
Route: Admiral Ray Carlton. Down SC & CS, passing “R32” at the mouth of the Cooper River, to waypoints ”R6”,”G5” and “G1” all the way to Tybee Roads, then turning to starboard and proceeding up the Savannah River to Fields Cut, to the Wright River, the New River and the Cooper River, stopping for lunch on Daufuskie and completing the circumnavigation by passing “R32” at the mouth of the Cooper River on the way back to Skull Creek Marina.

Rendezvous: 0730 at Skull Creek Marina for chart review and radio check. Push off: 0800
Skills: Chart reading (depths & ATONS); ICW ATONs; no wake zone speeds; VHF usage (16à?? Transition); spinning in place; piloting w/ GPS; docking.
Route: Down SC & CS, passing “R32” at the mouth of the Cooper River, to waypoint 10 at Braddock Point (South Sea Pines, cutting inside “R6”, then paralleling the coast well offshore in a northeasterly direction until reaching the jFolly. Then heading due east until well clear of the Joyner Banks breakers before turning north again into Port Royal Sound. Then turning northwest, parallel to the coast, well outside “G1”, cutting between “G3” and “R4”, into the mouth of Skull Creek and back to Skull Creek Marina. Once having arrived, we will have a late afternoon BBQ and champagne toast for having completed the Magellan Society Initiation.
