The Magellan Society

Magellan Society Prepared to Explore

Beginning in March and culminating in August, those in our Squadron who are new to the area will have the opportunity to learn the local waters, back channels, tides and currents by taking monthly Magellan Society circumnavigation cruises around local islands.  Led by HHS&PS “Old Salts” who have plied these waters for many years, these cruises will offer a variety of opportunities to explore local waterways and put into practice many of the lessons learned in all our great Power Squadron classes.
 
Here’s the Calendar of Magellan Society Circumnavigation Cruises:

1200 Monday, March 22:                   Marsh & Buck Islands - Completed
1130 Tuesday, April 20:                     Pinckney Island  - Completed - see Photos
1000 Friday, June 18:                         Bull Island and Middlemarsh Island - Completed - see Photos
0830 Wednesday, July 14:                 Daufuskie Island
0730 Tuesday, August 10:                 Hilton Head Island

Magellan Society membership is FREE, BUT- it is open ONLY to members of the Hilton Head Sail & Power Squadron, and you MUST apply in order to be included on the email list for advanced notice with details on all Magellan Society circumnavigation cruises.  To apply for Magellan Society membership, email Lt.
