Safe Boating Education
Next Public Class - July 31, 2010

The Hilton Head Sail and Power Squadron teaches the America's Boating Course several times a year. Open to the public, America's Boating Course is a five session program, usually held during the evening on weekdays. The classes typically run from 7:00 pm to 9:30 pm.

America's Boating Course covers:

ABC Manual
boat handling jet-skis using trailers  
required equipment navigational aids rules-of-the-road  
radio procedures emergency procedures boat registration  
South Carolina boating law      

You will learn the basics of what you need to safely and comfortably go on the water with your boat.

Learn the fundamentals of safe boat handling and operation plus basic piloting in one comprehensive classroom course.  As an additional feature, this course includes a digital chart training CD and instructional material on modern navigation techniques as well. 

This course meets state specific and National Association of State Boating Law Administrators (NASBLA) requirements for certification.  And completion of the course is accepted by most insurance companies.  Since 1914, individual squadrons of USPS have provided courses as a service to the boating public to over 3 million boaters.    The course satisfies SC boating requirements and eligibility for squadron membership.

Class Schedules

The SPRING America's Boating Course starts on March 8, 2010. The cost of the course materials is $70 for a single and $85 for a couple sharing materials.

Registration is at 6:30 pm on March 8.   The classes are on Monday and Thursday evenings, from 7-9:30pm.

Location

The location is the S.H.A.R.E. Center, 6 Office Park Road, Suite 915. Office Park Road is the first right on Pope Ave, just down from the Sea Pines Circle.
