Boating Activities Calendar Set

At long last, and with lots of great input from past Boating Activities Chairpersons, this year’s Boating Activities Calendar has been set.  We believe it will offer a little bit of something for everyone:  short cruises, long cruises, marsh explorations, shopping/sightseeing outings, kayak tours, and leisurely lunches.  And most destinations have “shore side” aspects, offering the opportunity for “asphalt cruisers” to meet up with the boaters at the destination to join in on the land based fun.  So, with that in mind, here’s our calendar:

Saturday, April 10                   A Cruise to 11th Street Dockside for our Season Opening Luncheon - PHOTOS
Saturday, May 1                      A Kayak Tour of Pinckney Island Environs - PHOTOS
Thursday, May 13                    A Cruise to Savannah for Lunch, Sightseeing & Shopping - PHOTOS
Thursday, June 10                   A Marsh Cruise along the New River & Dinner at Daufuskie
Crab -
Company - COMPLETED - see PHOTOS and REPORT
Thursday, July 22                    A May River Cruise to the “Redneck Riviera” for a Picnic/BBQ
Monday, August 2                   A Cruise to Beaufort for Lunch and a City Carriage Tour
Saturday, September 11          A Slow Cruise to The Inn at Palmetto Bluff for Luncheon on the Veranda
Monday, October 11                  Our Season Ending Cruise and Luncheon at Port Royal Landing Marina

All of our cruises will have a volunteer “Admiral” who will be in charge of making arrangements with the destination, coordinating individual boat captains, making sure that all boats are full, and leading the flotilla to and from their destination on the day of the cruise.  While a fun filled day on the water is our goal, everyone’s safety is paramount; and nothing will be left to chance.  So each cruise will have a volunteer Safety Officer as well.  All activities have been planned with time and tide taken fully into account.  Weather, of course, is the wild card; and we will be watching carefully up to the last minute, with all appropriate precautions taken.  But, for now, we will all be optimistic and believe that each and every one of our dates will be clear, sunny with light and variable winds!  Ahoy, mates!  Let’s get ready to shove off for adventure this boating season!!

Magellan Society Prepared to Explore

Beginning in March and culminating in August, those in our Squadron who are new to the area will have the opportunity to learn the local waters, back channels, tides and currents by taking monthly Magellan Society circumnavigation cruises around local islands.  MORE INFO
